Based on recent studies lung capacity is said to be the number one determinate of life longevity! Yes that means it comes before cardiovascular health!

The breath is one of my absolute favorite tools for combating symptoms of anxiety! It actually has enormous benefits to our body overall and advanced techniques have proven to cure disease.
Your breath is something you will always have with you and when you simply tune in or become aware of it, it has calming effects on the body's nervous system. Some of the benefits to a breathing practice are decreasing the intensity of anxiety, keeping panic attacks at bay, lowering blood pressure and heart rate, increased stress tolerance and much more. There are many breathing techniques that can produce a certain outcome based on your goals. However, I always recommend starting with simple practices such as box breathing which is good for grounding. Breathing in for 4 counts, holding for 4 counts, exhaling for 4 counts, holding for 4 counts. This may require several breaths at your own pace before you start counting. And the beauty is, its YOUR practice, adjust the numbers to fit your comfort.
